CHILDREN IN SCOTLAND

Cover Design

Within the pages of Children In Scotland, a local Scottish organization's annual publication. It serves as a beacon of awareness, shedding light on the lives of children, young people, and individuals of all ages.

As Children In Scotland has a friendly relationship with the University of Edinburgh, I was given the opportunity to be selected while studying illustration at Edinburgh University. Though my illustrations were not chosen for the official release, I am delighted to share the inspiration behind this captivating cover.

In creating this illustration, I sought to encapsulate the profound themes of potential, optimism, positivity, and freedom. A majestic tree takes center stage, adorned with an array of diverse fruits symbolizing the boundless and vibrant future that children can cultivate in an environment of comfort and liberty. It serves as a testament to the collaborative efforts of the teachers, doctors, writers, and remarkable individuals featured within the magazine's pages.

While my illustrations may not grace the official release, I am grateful for the opportunity to share this creation with you.

Inside Illustration Design

This illustration is based on the article in this magazine about teenage suicide, which shows the seriousness of the matter and gives some ideas of what adults and peers can do to help them. So I have used building blocks as a metaphor for the danger factor, as the child builds the blocks higher and higher and the blocks in the middle are irregular so it is easy to fall, but with the help of adults and peers she can continue to build the blocks in a safe and free environment.
